WOLD RANGERS WAY ULTRA
The Wold Rangers Way Ultra is a stunning 52 km circular route through the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds, starting and finishing at the eco-friendly Field House Camping & Coffee Barn near Tibthorpe. Now in its 6th edition, this friendly, inclusive, local event has become one of the most popular ultras in the region.
Limited to just 200 runners and selling out every year, it offers an intimate, well-supported experience with free parking, excellent facilities, four indoor checkpoints with toilets, live tracking included, and a unique finisher’s medal waiting at the end—while £4 from every entry supports local charities.

A live GPS tracker is included with your entry.
We use Open Tracking, the UK’s leading provider of live tracking, mapping and timing solutions for sporting events.

Choose how you celebrate your finish: an eco-wooden medal, a wildflower seed medal, or go medal-free and we’ll plant 3 trees on your behalf.
Our wildflower seed medals are handmade by EarthRuns from recycled materials. After the event, plant yours and watch it grow into wildflowers that support bees and butterflies for years to come. You’ll also have a tree planted to mark your achievement.

At the finish, enjoy complimentary tea or coffee alongside a well-earned slice of cake.

A collection point at registration allows you to donate unwanted sports clothing or equipment, including old event tees. Items are passed to PreLoved Sports, where they are resold for charity or redistributed to other projects.
ROUTE
The route follows much of the Wold Rangers Way, taking you deep into the rolling landscapes and iconic dry valleys that define the Yorkshire Wolds. It’s a varied and rewarding course that is easy to navigate, with the route clearly marked throughout so you can focus on the experience rather than navigation.
Along the way, you’ll pass through the picturesque villages of Huggate, Fridaythorpe, Thixendale, Fimber, and Wetwang, each offering a glimpse of the area’s rural charm. With expansive views, quiet trails, and ever-changing scenery from start to finish, this is a course that showcases the very best of the Wolds.

CUT-OFFS
You have 12 hours to finish this event. There are no checkpoint cut-off times, so you can run your race at your pace.

Parking is on site, and you will be able to access your belongings easily if left in your vehicle. You also have the option of leaving a bag with us that will be available at the finish. This bag is for non-valuable items, such as clothing.
Please use a sealable bag, such as a rucksack. We will provide a tag for you to write your bib number and attach to your bag, so that we know that the bag belongs to you.
The bag will be put somewhere out of view. Whilst we will be in attendance all day within proximity, the bag is left at your own risk and therefore it is really important that valuable items are not left in the bag.

All checkpoint food and drink is vegan friendly and gluten free.

A drop bag at checkpoint 3 is optional and gives you access to your own food and drink for an extra boost when it matters most.
If you choose to use one, leave a sealed bag (no larger than a carrier bag) at registration, clearly labelled with your bib number. Bags will not be returned if unused.

You will be provided with a GPX file for navigation.
To help guide you on the day, we also place yellow tape and large yellow correx signs at key junctions. Please note these may be moved, damaged or removed, so it’s important to familiarise yourself with the route in advance.
Recce routes are available on our website to help you prepare.
The route can also be viewed via the tracker link in multiple map formats, including Ordnance Survey Maps. Where there is mobile signal, you’ll be able to see your exact location on the course.
Friends and family can use the same tracker link to follow your progress, and we also use it to monitor participants throughout the event.

There is a 12-hour cut-off time, based on an average pace of around 3 miles per hour, making it achievable for beginners or those expecting to walk large sections of the course.
There are no checkpoint cut-offs, so you can progress at your own pace throughout the route.
For safety, the 12-hour cut-off applies to the full course, after which participants may be asked to retire if they are still on the route.

This event is open to anyone aged 20 or over on the date the event takes place.

You are unable to take part in this event with a dog.

You must not run with anyone else, other than fellow registered competitors, who is on foot, in a vehicle or on a bicycle along any part of the route.
You are only able to receive outside help from spectators and support crew who are stationary at spectator/support crew friendly checkpoints, or at other roadside locations.

About the venue
Field House Camping & Coffee Barn is the host for the start and finish of the event. Set in the grounds of a working farm, with far reaching views across the Yorkshire Wolds.
On the day of the event, you can either drive to the venue and enjoy free parking on site, or cycle and benefit from indoor cycle parking.
If you need to do a lot of travelling, then there is also the option of camping. Better still, you get 10% off camping when you sign up to this event.
The venue is great for friends and family to enjoy whilst you run. There’s comfy sofas in the barn as well as a rustic woodland children’s play area. The fully licensed Coffee Barn will be serving drinks and food throughout the day. Several walking printed maps are available at the Coffee Barn for friends and family to explore the surrounding area.
The Coffee Barn is dog friendly. But remember, you are unable to run with a dog on the course.
